Airtime Subscriptions
Like mobile phones SPoT needs an airtime contract to send messages via the Globalstar satellite network.
There are 2 levels of annual subscription:
1 A mandatory basic level covering all email messages and 200 phone text messages ($0.10 per text thereafter).
2 An optional extra level for more frequent Tracking messages. This automates the OK button to transmit GPS locations every 10 minutes for 24 hours. In this mode the chances of messages being blocked by surrounding objects (including the user's body) at the exact time of transmission are increased, and messages are sent to your SPoT web account only - no emails or texts.
Airtime can only be provided by the user concluding a service agreement with SPoT, which can either be paid direct to SPoT on registration of the device or via an activation code from ourselves enabling free registration.

NB. OK messages are only sent if proper Lat/Lon coordinates have been acquired from the GPS satellite system, in which case emails (not texts) will include a link to a Google location map.
